DESCRIPTION:
We should call this – 3D AAT 505 My Best Friend!
Why? - Because after you use this product ONE time it will be your new best friend. AND – you’ll never want to be without your best friend.
If you work in a body shop you understand all the issues that go on behind the scenes that the general public, your customers, insurance adjusters and yes – even your boss never sees nor gets it.
The majority of work you do is collision repair. Daily drivers get wrecked, new body panels are installed and painted. Now the area you fixed looks better than the rest of the car. It won’t look right to give the car back to the owner with shiny paint where you worked and dull, weathered, swirled-out paint over the rest of the body panels.
You know the right fix is to do a full paint correction including compounding, polishing, and waxing the rest of the car so it MATCHES the new paint. But there’s no time for that and the time, labor and materials are never covered by insurance or the car owner.
You’re a craftsman, you work in a craft industry. Chances are really good you’re also a tick OCD about the perception of the work you personally turn-out as well as the reputation of the shop and shop owner where you work. You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place and there’s no easy answer. Until now.
I know it’s easy to be cynical when you’re reading copy like this but I’m being straight with you because I’m like you. I’m writing from my heart and my real-world experience. I know what it’s like for everyone’s expectations to be unrealistically high and due to time constraints – these kinds of expectations are simply not real-world.
Inside I want to do my best work and make everyone happy including the customer, the boss and yes, myself. I want to feel good about the work I turn-out. I certainly don’t want anyone thinking I’m a hack.
Let’s cut to the chase - here’s what this product is. 3D 505 Correction Glaze is unique in the professional body shop world of compounds and polishes. It’s a polish but nothing like any polish you’ve ever used.
First – it offers great correction ability for a “polish”. It’s not a compound so keep things in perspective – it’s for cleaning up the paint surrounding the new freshly sprayed paint, so the ENTIRE car looks the same.
Tunch calls it a BLENDER because it blends the surrounding panels that are filled with swirls, scratches, and oxidation so they look like the new, fresh sprayed paint.
Now when the customer comes to pick up their car the entire car is going to look great. It’s going to look “finished”. The customer is going to be happy and to be honest – they won’t even know why.
This product removes medium level swirls and scratches and anything it doesn’t remove it dramatically improves. It NEVER dries out or gets dusty. Never. And it wipes off super easy and leaves a wet looking shine. And then get this – it’s safe for fresh paint.
It’s works like a light cutting compound, a jeweling polish and leaves behind a proprietary hybrid version of Montan wax. Not only will the car look great but as your customer puts the car back on the road – the paint will be protected from the elements.
In fact, not to take away anything from any of the other 3D polishes, 502 and 520, because they work great also, but you can use this product, 505 Correction Glaze as the follow-up polish to any 3D compounding step. Same idea – use a fine cut polish to perfect the results created by the compounding step but with 3D 505 Correction Glaze you’re also leaving behind some protection for the customer’s benefit.
Take a chance. You’ve got nothing to lose. We offer a money back guarantee – you’ve got nothing to lose. Then use this product ONE time like I describe in the directions and thank 3D, Tunch Goren, the owner (and head chemist) and finally me later. -Mike Phillips
3D on the outside of the bottle means you can trust the product on the inside of the bottle.
What is it? - A body shop safe, fresh paint safe AIO. AIO stands for All-in-One. An all-in-one product is a product the compounds, polishes and protects in one step. In the hold days we called these a cleaner/wax. This is simply the next evolution in cleaner/waxes as it’s a hybrid product that’s safe for fresh paint.
What does it do? - It works like an AIO in the car detailing world only it’s safe for fresh paint. You can use it as a polish on fresh paint to remove minor defects and leave behind Montan wax protection, but its PRIMARY purpose is to restore the shine and gloss to the existing paint on the body panels that surround the panels with new paint. It’s a way to make the weathered panels of the car look new so they match the new paint from the repair work.
When do you use it? - After the body work and paint has been completed on a repair job in collision shops.
Why use 3D AAT 505 Correction Glaze over other options? - The simple and truthful reason you should choose and use 3D 505 Correction Glaze over any other product is because it works so freaking good. It buffs like butter while removing swirls, scratches, water spots and oxidation. After it dries, (and you should let it dry), it wipes off super super easy and this is nice for you.
And for what it’s worth – 3D SPEED is the NUMBER #1 AIO in the car detailing world because it works so well. It removes defects exceptionally well, it has zero dusting, it buffs forever and never dries out and again – it wipes off super easy. 3D 505 Correction Glaze is the body shop version of 3D SPEED. APPLICATION:
IMPORTANT: Always work on a cool clean surface in the shade.
Orbital polishers and rotary polishers
Step 1: Prepare the surface by first washing, drying the vehicle or the panels that still have factory paint. Point being is any panel you’re going to buff needs to be clean. It’s a given the panels with fresh paint are clean – or should be clean.
Step 2: Attach a foam polishing pad to the backing plate on orbital or rotary polisher and set the speed setting to low or medium.
Step 3: Apply 4-5 nickel sized drops of product onto the center of the face of buffing pad. Press the face of the pad against a body panel, turn the polisher on and spread the product over the area to be worked, about 2’ by 2’.
Step 4: After spreading polish over area to be worked - turn polisher to a medium to high speed and begin making overlapping passes. Move polisher over paint using a slow to medium arm speed. Monitor defect removal as you buff. Once paint defects are removed to your satisfaction, stop buffing and move onto a new panel or section of a panel. Do not wipe off product yet.
Step 5: After you have finished buffing/blending any factory paint surrounding the new paint – now wipe-off any excess product using a clean, soft microfiber towel. 3D 505 Correction Glaze wipes off easiest when you allow it to fully dry.
NOTE: 3D 505 Correction Glaze can be used as a stand-alone product or after any 3D compounds or after any 3D polishes.
Professional Recommendation: Best finish results with this type of product are achieved using an orbital polisher but you can apply using a rotary polisher.
Pad recommendations: You have a lot of control over the cut with this product depending upon the pad you use. For more correction, like cleaning up severely neglected body panels use a foam cutting pad. If adjacent body panels are not too bad, then use a foam polishing pad. If you use a foam cutting pad, be sure to do a Test Spot first and make sure the aggressiveness of the foam is not leaving micro-marring.
Optional – Claying the paint - In most cases, any car that has neglected paint also has contamination on the paint, this can include overspray from when the car was repaired and repainted or from general overspray in the air in a body shop environment. Buffing with foam usually will not remove overspray or other bonded contaminants. A body shop is not a detail shop and the insurance, nor the customer is paying for the extra step of claying the paint. This is a decision the shop owner needs to make. 3D 505 Correction Glaze will shine-up paint whether it’s contaminated or not.
Professional Technique Tips
Orbital Polishers
Use lots of foam pads - Due to the way any liquid polish can saturate into foam polishing and finishing pads – switch to a clean, dry foam pad often. You’ll get better results faster if you switch to clean, soft dry foam pads often versus trying to buff out an entire car with only a few pads.
1 pad per 2 body panels - Figure 2 large panels per pad and then switch to a clean, dry foam pad. For a 2-door passenger car with 9 panels, (hood, roof, trunk lid, 2 front fenders, 2 doors and 2 rear fenders), this means have 4-5 foam pads on hand for the polishing step to do the job right.
Clean your pad often - Together with swapping to a fresh, clean dry pad often, when working around the body panels of any vehicle using a foam polishing or finishing pad – clean the face of the pad often using a nylon pad cleaning brush.
